Die Einheit – Das Auswärtige Amt, das DDR-Außenministerium und der Zwei-plus-Vier-Prozess

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of German reunification, this edition presents previously unpublished documents concerning the foreign policy of the two German states and the 2+4 negotiations.
The reunification of Germany in 1989/1990 changed the world: Like no other event of its time, this process marked the end of the Cold War in Europe. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of German reunification, the Institute for Contemporary History Munich-Berlin presents this edition of 170 previously unpublished documents from the West German Foreign Office and the East German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These documents give a vivid picture of the “engine room of diplomacy” and allow the dramatic events of the day to come alive again – from the “embassy refugees” in the summer of 1989 in Prague to the completion of unification in the fall of 1990.
